Meet Information

The Caribbean Scholastic Invitational (CSI) has been reinstated in 2015 after a one-year hiatus and will take place in Havana, Cuba for the first time after several years in Puerto Rico. The finalized date for the meet is Saturday, June 13, 2015. HERE is the story of how the meet has been reborn in Havana!

Requirements/Things to know for 2015 CSI

The team will consist of student-athletes who are underclassmen (non-seniors) in 2015.
Athletes from all 50 states and D.C. are eligible for selection, thanks to the change in dates from the original June 6. weekend.
14 boys and 14 girls will be selected in the sprints, hurdles, 800m, LJ, TJ, SP, DT, JT and HT.
Those interested in being considered should have a passport by NBNI (March 13-15, 2015).
We expect to select the team by March 22 (1 week after NBNI) and no later than April 1.
Strong consideration will be given to those who compete at NBNI, except in obvious exceptions like the 400H, DT, JT and HT). We will also look at athletes who dont compete indoors but have started their outdoors seasons.

The event began in 2006. Each year (save 2014), we've selected a team of underclass athletes from the U.S. to compete against others from the Caribbean. For most of the U.S. athletes it is the first time competing internationally. That experience is meant to break the ice for when these athletes compete for the U.S. on other international teams.

From 2006-2013, the meet was a collaborative effort between the NSAF and the athletics federation of Puerto Rico. The NSAF is indebted to the City of Carolina, PR and to the leadership of Victor Lopez for those events.
